April Glossy Box

I was getting worried yesterday being the last day of the month and I STILL hadn't received my monthly subscription Glossy Box. But Alas, the horn blew out the  front of my house and I  knew it was the postie, woo hoo!!

I have only been subscribed to Glossy Box for 2 months now, the last box I got was very disappointing who wants a full size tube of Dencorub heat gel or a power balance wrist band that snapped when i tried to put it on!! This is a beauty box that i subscribed too right?
I actually think they must have got a lot of bad feedback over last months box as the clipping that comes with the box states that they have now signed up with Lust have it Box to bring us -"A better experience in the future, including more premium brands and added value". I am hoping that the collaboration with the Lust brand will improve the products, we shall see next month i guess..
Thankfully this months box was 100% better than previous! Phew.. All beauty products, AS it should be. I haven't got to try some of the products yet so I will do reviews as I try them.
This is the link to their website if anyone is interested in subscribing. http://www.lusthaveit.com.au/

So here is Aprils goodies....

The post box

Glossy Box :)

Taken the lid off.....
opening the pretty ribbon and black tissue paper....

Ohhhh this looks good...

Indola Innova repair hair capsules x 3

Redwins full size moisturiser sensitive skin, (smells delicious)

Davroe Thermaprotect protection spray (sample)

Uandi Natural  Facial Moisturiser spf15

Jurlique Intense recovery masque

So that's what was in this months box, i would be happy to pay $15 per month if every box were like that..
What is your favourite subscription box? Or have you had any crappy ones?? I would love to know. :)

The Taming of the Brows :)

If you were stuck on an island and heard there were a few good looking sorts coming over to save you, and you only had one product available to doll yourself up before they came, what would that product be?
For me.. My NYX dark brown Jumbo pencil to fill in the sparse barely noticeable hairs on my face called eyebrows! You see, being quite fair skinned and haired my eyebrows are pretty much non existent looking and i don't feel complete unless they are done.
I once to use a lot of powder products on my brows, but in photos they looked powdery and the hairs wouldn't stay in place.
Then one day for some reason i tried the Nyx pencil on them and instantly fell in love. I love this because it is waxy in consistency so it keeps any strays in place, it is a great versatile true matte brown colour, i have worn this when i had very blonde hair and i still wear it now when i have darker hair it all depends on how much product you use as to the colour payoff.
So for a cheap alternative to brow pencils and powders try your $4 Nyx jumbo pencil, I'm sure you have one floating around somewhere.

The other products that i use for my brows include Tweezerman tweezers, these truly are the best tweezers around, they have a stainless steel tip that is quite sharp, good enough to get those pesky blonde hairs that the eye can't see. I rthink these retail for about $28 but they are worth it, you will never go back to normal tweezers!

Jane Iredale angle/liner brow brush, this brush is really thin and angled perfect for shaping brows, I use this with the pencil and powders, its also great for lining and tight lining eyes.

Ecotools brow brush, just to combe the hairs into place before hand and after product has been applied. Sometimes if i want extra extra hold in my brows i will spray hairspray on this brush and combe through my brows.
I also use eyebrow tint on my brows when i have time to do it, this just makes them darker and it lasts for about 2 weeks.

No product,!!

After the Nyx Jumbo pencil, lightly applied, much nicer.
P.s I dont have any other makeup on yet.. it's Sunday morning ok ;)

Do you know how to shape your eyebrows?
If your beautician waxes them you can normally see the regrowth underneath, only tweeze those ones, if you want to reshape them best see the professionals.
Here is a picture of the correct brow shaping way, although everyones are different so it's not always this simple :)
Here are some tricks to help shape.
  • Tweeze after a warm shower as it won't hurt as much
  • You can tweeze/wax on top of the brow not just underneath
  • Hold the skin taught when tweezing and always pull the way the hair is growing as to avoid snapping the hair (You want to get it out by the root which you can normally see on a plucked eyebrow hair it's like a little white ball on the end).

The Black line is where your brow should start, basically if you hold a pencil from the side of your nose upward all the hairs outside of the pencil can be tweezed as they will start looking a bit mono browish otherwise. The Arch is the white line, if you hold the pencil from your nostril to the outer black colour of your eye (iris?) this is where you should have your arch.
And the brows should end at the outer corner of your eye, (grey line). Most peoples are much shorter so this is where the brow pencil comes in handy to draw this part in. It makes your face look alot thinner.
Anyway hope this helps :) Have a great day, --Nicole--

NOTD- Essie Lilacism

This would have to be one of my favourite pastel nail polish colours. It goes on very nicely (not streaky), I usually apply 2 coats for even coverage.
I get my Essie polishes off Ebay & they normally cost around $9 Aust including postage.
Are you in to the whole pastel craze that is going on at the moment?

NYX Runway Collection Eyeshadow Palette- Versus

Wow! I am so glad that i have this NYX palette. It's becoming my everyday eyeshadow.
With 10 different natural/neutral colours to chose from there is one for every occasion. So far i have found the shadows to be well formulated, they seem very pigmented with little fallout and the packaging is a nice shiney black plastic.
The colours range from shimmery white to four different shades and textures of purples, to the natural browns and taupe's, and one black (this is the only colour I'm not overly fussed with as it is a bit streaky and more like a dark grey in colour).
I find that if you use an eye primer under these shadows the colour is even more vibrant and gorgeous!
There are a few more palettes that i am thinking of purchasing as i am very happy with this one and it's quite cheap which is a bonus, this one cost me $13 including postage from EBay.
This one is called  "versus" and i think the next one I will purchase will be "Champagne and Caviar" which has more of the neautral brown colours.

Nataural look using the beige over lid and light purple in crease

Revlon Lip Butter- Sweet Tart

Yay, Finally Australia has introduced Revlon Lip butters to it's shelves!
I was so sick of watching you tube videos on them,I wanted them so badly! Lol. So we now stock them at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, most pharmacies, and Department stores. I got mine from the Chemist Warehouse, they are not cheap here, $21.95 for one! (Our make-up is always so much more pricey then U.S)  :(
I just got the one to begin with and i will wait until a sale to purchase more.
My thoughts- Lovely colour, it's a bright bubblegum pink, lovely texture - smooth and creamy, it doesn't stay on your lips for to long but i didn't expect it to with how soft and smooth it is.
They don't seem to have much of a smell which doesn't bother me. It's just like a lovely smooth creamy lip tint.
I brought one off eBay which i am stillllll waiting for! Overall i love the packaging (sleek silver design with a pretty pink transparent lid), i love the colour and texture, i don't love the price but i will fork the money out again for another colour I'm sure :)

..Sweet Tart on my lips..

What are your favourite shades of Lip butters?

KISS Nail Dress Review

This is actully my first set of the popular "stick on designs" for nails, and i have to say i love them and will be purchasing more!
I got these from Big W, they were $12 for 28 stickers.

They are so blingy without looking cheap or tacky. As you can see in the designs they have different ones in the packet so you can dress your nails up with different patterns.
They are really easy to use, i even did my left hand perfectly lol.
It comes with a little file, and you basically stretch the design over a clean filed nail, stick it down, fold it under the free edge, and file off the excess. ( I used scissors also).
They are meant to last 10 days, lets see about that! I will update with staying power.
Have you tried any of these designs? What are your favourite patterns? There are so many to chose from!

Finished Results. I like, do you??

Too Faced- Glamour to go Review

So I have ordered a bunch of makeup on line recently.., the hardest part is waiting for it to get here by snail mail lol, I did get excited today when I saw I had an item to collect at the post office. So I raced down there thinking maybe it's my Bella box, maybe it's my lip butters.. picked the parcel up, it's from Taiwan. Hmmmm what could it be? Opened it up and.... It was... Joel's motorbike mirrors. Booooo! That's the most boring parcel I could think of!!!
However when I got home there was a package waiting for me, yippee. It was too faced glamour to go palette -fairy edition.

My thoughts on this product.... I thought the packaging was quite cute, but it feels quite cheap and the lid is hard to open. The eye shadow colours looked great in the palette but when I went to swatch them they felt powdery and not very pigmented. There are 8 shadows, they are mostly shimmery with a few being quite glittery. The pink one is just powdery and doesn't produce any colour whatsoever!
I have done a quick eye look with this palette the colours have a lot of fall out and are quite powdery. Overall I am a bit disappointed with this product. I have the too faced romance palette and it's great, with gorgeous rich colours.
The other thing that I don't get ( must have been a male that made this bit) is that the blush drawer has a blush and next to it a lip gloss, and then a bronzer.. Hello? My nice lipgloss now has the dust from the blusher and bronzer in it and has turned poo brown :(
Oh well you win some you lose some and looks like i lost $15!

Hopefully my next package will be more thrilling. Has anyone tried this palette?? What did you think? Have a great day :) ..Nikki.

2012 Nail Trends

I love looking at nail trends, some people are so imaginative with their creations, nails are like little works of art!
I have been doing my nails in one colour with the ring finger a different colour lately but am getting a bit over it now. My nails are kind of ugly and they don't suit a lot of the trends, they don't grow long- just snap right off and they are kind of fat looking boooo! I want long slender nails, (please god pleeeeease!!)
Below are some of my dream nail pics that are the current trends that I'm not sporting! ;(

Love the bling nails and the ombre look in the middle!

Leopard print, need i say more...
glitter french manicure, love!!

Matte and shiney work well together

Fave perfume - Armani Code

I love Giorgio Armani fragrances, and this one is no exception.
The perfumes i like most are probably classed as more of an evening scent, i don't really like "fresh" scents as i find they don't last long on my skin, i like sweet scents but not sickly sweet (aka Brittany Spears line). Code is a soft powdery floral with hints of Jasmine, musk and Vanilla and is quite a night time fragrance that lasts for a long time, I love when you wake up and you can still smell the faintness of last nights perfume on your clothes that you wore out. This gets so many compliments when i wear it, i think i will make it my signature scent :)
This website has different sizes you can purchase, mine was about $85 for 75ml. www.fragrancenet.com

Do you have an all time favourite perfume that you couldn't live without??

*Easter Bling* China Glaze Liquid Crystal polish

Happy Easter long weekend my fellow Aussies!
Feels great to have 4 days off from work. To celebrate I brought myself an Easter present :)
China Glaze Liquid Crystal.
This one caught my eye as it is so damn blingy! This colour is from their new line "Prismatic Chroma Glitters". It's a bluey/ purple colour with holographic glitters in it, the only problem is that when you do eventually want to remove it it's a pain in the butt to get off lol, but that's the same as most glittery polishes i guess.
It doesn't take long to dry with 2 coats for added shimmer. You will need to apply a few coats of top coat as it feels a bit gritty without. You can purchase China Glaze polishes for about $13, www.crushcosmetics.com.au/china-glazey is a good online shop to get them from.

I would love to know what everyone is doing for Easter, (apart from scoffing on eggs like me hehe), i will be relaxing and also studying for my IPL and Laser Saftey Officers Certificate so i can zap those nasty hairs off peoples bodies! ;)

Love me some Lush!

This weekend i went to one of my favourite shops on the planet, Lush! There is not a Lush store close by to me so i don't get to venture there very often, but we went to the Gold Coast to have a look at some wedding places so i was mega excited to go into Lush. I normally order my fix items on line but there is something about the smell, and the colourful glittery little wonders that await you at the store that makes it exciting!
I have my little goodies unwrapped near me to get a pic to show you guys and the aroma of when they are all together is divine if my house smelt like Lush all the time i would become a hermit and never leave ;)

Too Drunk Emotibomb- I always get some of these scary looking fellas, you drop them into a steamy hot shower and the aroma magically cures your hangover.. (Not really but it smells very invigorating and refreshing). $4.95

The Ex factor Bath Ballistic- "Exorcise your ex" hehe.. This guy smells like Vanilla and musk and i cant wait to have share my bath with him. $5.50

Candy Fluff Fluffy Egg- This one is an Easter edition, they also had an Easter carrot but i didn't think it smelt that nice. This one smells like rockstar soap but a bit more musky its very very sweet smelling which i looove! $5.50

The Comforter Bubble Bar- "Wraps you in a fluffy pink blanket of blackberry bubbles to keep you safe and warm".. Need i say more :) $10.50

Rose Jam Bubbleroon Bubble Bar- This one is fairly new i  think, it's like a cute little macaroon that you would buy at a little bakery in Paris, but it smells 1000 times sweeter, you can break this one up and use one piece for each bath. It smells like coconut, roses, and flowers? Weird combo but it works. $6.50

Now off to the bath with me..........................  What's your fave Lush product?? :)

Do you suffer from oompa loompa syndrome?

Oompa loompa syndrome- symptoms include orange hands and or feet, too much tan around your ankles, knuckles, elbows, patchy orange fading tan on the body, this look is definitely not fashionable this season.. Fear not! I have found a great product that promises to remove any unwanted tan in an instant, St.Tropez tan remover.
This product pretty much feels like the heavy duty soap that guys use to get rid of dirt and grease off their hands, It doesn't smell that great, smells like strong hair dye to me lol but this stuff will get your tan off like a charm. You can use this up to 4 hours since you applied the tan, just pump some out of the dispensor and add water. I have used it when my spray tan went patchy after a few days and it got majority of it off. Handy to keep in the shower for emergencies :) I got mine from my local chemist and it costs about $15
